The clay season has arrived, which mean it's time for Rafael Nadal to find more room on his mantel to place championship trophies. The debate over who is the greatest clay court player of all time on the men's side should be over by now. It's Nadal. No one is close, not even the great Bjorn Borg. Since 2005, Nadal has won the French Open six times, the Italian Open five times, the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters seven times, the Barcelona Open six times and the German Open once. That's a total of 25 championships at five of the top clay tounaments in the world. By comparison, Borg won 13. Take note that Borg retired at 26 and Nadal is now 25. Rafa also holds the record for most consecutives matches won on clay: 81 from 2005 to 2007. This guy is scary good. The combination of rock-solid groundstrokes, speed and mental toughness makes Nadal the ideal clay court warrior.
